What EdgeSync Does

A first-time overview of EdgeSync, the BILL to Financial Edge NXT workflow, and why exception management matters.

EdgeSync is an accounts-payable operations layer for nonprofit finance teams that need paid BILL bills to land cleanly in Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT. It turns the sync from a black box into a reviewable workflow: operators can see what cleared, what posted, what needs mapping, and what needs a finance decision before retrying.

What EdgeSync syncs

  • Paid BILL bills, vendors, invoice references, payment context, and distribution lines.
  • Financial Edge NXT dimensions such as accounts, projects, grants, departments, and classes.
  • Resolution history, retry attempts, mapping decisions, and operator notes for audit review.

Why it exists

Nonprofit AP workflows often depend on restricted funds, grant coding, vendor naming rules, and board-ready audit trails. EdgeSync protects those controls by pausing risky records for review instead of posting incomplete or ambiguous bills into the ledger.

Where to start

Start with Sync Operations to understand daily monitoring, then review Exceptions and Mapping to see how operators clear blockers before a paid bill is posted to Financial Edge NXT.
